I am currently a student at UTK pursuing a degree in Mathematics. Before I came to school, I worked as a math tutor at Mathnasium for two years, where we teach all math grades K-12.

About Mary
I like to make sure that students feel confident and comfortable working with math. Math is such a hard subject to grasp and understand, and I want people to know that it's okay to make mistakes. During lessons we can learn from mistakes and learn why the correct way is correct. If things are still a little confusing or things aren't 100% understood, I'll make sure to explain with a different approach in order to make the subject at hand be understandable. You should not have to feel awkward or self-conscious during a math lesson. It's normal and valid to mess up, we can fix it together.

If there's any sort of math that you have been struggling with in classes, I would love to help. If you bring in some work from class then we can go over it together, and go over similar examples to make the work make sense. When I worked at Mathnasium, kids were allowed to bring in math homework from school for part of their lessons so we were able to go through specific questions they had. I would love to help in that way. We can work on broad subjects as well, it might just be a little awkward at first while I find example problems for us to work on.
