About Pamela
Good day! My name is Pamela and I'm a native English language teacher from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. English is my first language, and I speak French as a second language. Teaching English brings me joy :) I love helping people reach their personal and professional goals through language improvement. I worked in business for 6 years before becoming a full-time teacher, so I have a lot of students who are business professionals. They appreciate having a teacher with experience in the corporate world. I held roles such as senior account executive (sales), import coordinator, assistant buyer, and assistant manager. Even then, I loved teaching English! I liked it so much that I did it for fun after my 9-5 job. Eventually, I decided to leave the business world and get my CELTA qualification to work as a full-time English teacher, and I am so happy that I did! I would love to meet you and help you gain confidence, improve your fluency, become more accurate with grammar, and expand your vocabulary, among other things. You tell me what you need or want, and we will focus on that. My academic background: I studied Liberal Arts at John Abbott College, History and Anthropology at McGill University, and Common Law at the University of Ottawa. I received my teaching certificate from the University of Cambridge (CELTA) through ILSC Montreal. I have also completed a Bridge TEFL 40-hour course on English grammar. I currently work for an online language school called The English Farm, where I teach business professionals from around the world. I participate in monthly training sessions with The English Farm to make sure that I am always improving my teaching skills. I also run my own freelance teaching business in Montreal where I teach students, immigrants, and business professionals who have recently moved to Canada and need help adjusting to the life and language here. While at McGill, I worked as a Note Taker for the Office for Students with Disabilities and as a Tutor for the Arts Essay Writing Centre. For me, it's important to create a safe and friendly environment for students. I have a flexible schedule, so feel free to contact me with questions. I look forward to working with you!

My lessons usually start with a chat about life, recent events, news, etc. so that you can warm up and practice your fluency. While you are speaking, I will identify all of your errors and write them in the chat so you can see them. We will fix important or repeated errors first so that we can remove them from your speech permanently. Step by step, you will learn English rules and reduce mistakes. I have a lot of teaching materials (reading comprehension texts, grammar exercises, vocabulary worksheets, listening practice, and games), so we will never run out of new activities to help you improve. You can tell me which topics interest you and I will prepare the material before our classes. You can also bring your own material from work or school (essays, emails, presentations, etc.) if you want to review them together. Over time, you will improve your confidence and fluency and become more accurate with grammar and vocabulary. See you soon!
