About Robin
I am a career educator currently on sabbatical to research, travel and write. I have been an educator for 15 years, and during this time I have successfully taught and tutored K-12 students in classroom settings all over the country. My deep commitment to my students and to my craft propelled me into the worlds of curriculum development, teacher training, and school leadership. Although I have an interdisciplinary academic background (i.e., the sciences, social studies, test prep, study skills, and life skills, etc.), my expertise lies in the skills associated with English Language Arts: reading, writing, speaking and listening. I use ELA skills to ensure students can handle any text (from any class) they encounter.

Experience has shown me that a great teacher serves as a facilitator--not a smart device spitting out answers. It may take different periods of time, multiple modes of learning, various texts, Socratic conversations, etc., but every student can definitely succeed. When a student learns the different paths to figuring things out, they use those tools in every setting (not just for one assignment).
When I teach, I provide the safety, space, tools and time for my students to master difficult concept(s). I use engaging techniques that allow me to pinpoint exactly where a student falters without giving away the answer. I employ practices that help students build cognitive stamina, and strengthen their reading and reasoning skills--effectively helping with all their classes (and in life!).
