About Alexa
I have just completed my undergraduate degree in neuroscience and am about to start a master's in the medical field. During my gap year, I tutored students in math, biology, and chemistry and found it incredibly fulfilling to watch them begin to understand and enjoy their studies. My love for my studies began to rub off on them and I still get messages from some of them today updating me on their progress at university. Beyond helping them improve their exam grades, I changed their approach to learning the same way my approach changed once I had the right teacher. I want to continue to do this for students who struggle in math and science

My approach to learning for exams has two key components. 1) understanding math and science is all about using building blocks that interest you. Some students can understand complex scientific ideas because they are intrigued by them, but struggle with simpler concepts as they don't see the connection and often lose interest. Previous students of mine have found success because I draw these connections with them while working through problems, encouraging them to understand what they are learning as puzzle pieces that fit together. 2) exam technique is paramount. I work through past papers with students so they understand exactly what examiners look for. This means they learn where they can save time in exams and instills key word triggers to hit common marking criteria
