About Caryn
My primary goal in tutoring/teaching has been to establish a level of comfort and ease -- and this is unique to every student. Language doesn't come easy to everyone, and in creating a comfortable learning environment, students in turn feel able to contribute and hone their skills. It is imperative to meet each student where they are, understand their interests and passions and incorporate those into their learning experiences. It has always been my intent to create a professional rapport with my students, but I also never forget that they need daily check-in and personal care so that they feel welcome to maximize their learning.

My lessons are hands on, real world applicable and include a variety of ways to address student learning styles in the areas of reading, writing, speaking and listening. I have always had a reputation of providing immediate feedback and am able to pivot quickly to provide a variety of mastery activities for ultimate achievement of language acquisition. My goal is always successful communication with confidence. I am accustomed to teaching in the classroom and online-- and I firmly believe that the success students have experienced in both of these settings depends upon the teacher as facilitator and the student as willing participant.

Such an amazing teacher! So friendly and nonjudgmental (especially since it was my worst subject) I’m planning on moving to Spain soon and I’m SO thankful that I had her has a teacher!!
I had Mrs. Callanan as my AP Spanish teacher while I was a student at Mullen High School. She was one of the best teachers I have ever had, and has made an lasting impact on me. Mrs. Callanan genuinely cares about those that are in her class and always puts in the extra effort. My Spanish significantly improved due to her teaching style and compassion for her students. I highly recommend her for anyone who is needing a little extra help!
