About Jo
I have a PhD in Psychotherapy Studies and a post-graduate teaching diploma in online education, both from the University of Sheffield, UK. I was a Lecturer in Mental Health in their Faculty of Medicine for ten years and have over 20 years teaching experience in further education, higher education and universities in the UK and abroad. My doctoral research focused on human development, learning and knowledge acquisition throughout the life cycle. I'm especially skilled at coaching ESL and neurodivergent students who have additional support needs and am an accredited neuroaffirming coach. I will help you identify your unique strengths and apply them to ensure you meet your academic and writing goals. The first lesson is a mutual assessment that I offer for free. If you decide to work with me, I'll agree a timetable with you to suit your needs. This can be flexible, as we go, or structured as you prefer. I'll then draw up a contract for you so that you know I'll be there to support you until your goals are reached. I use my skills in positive psychology to offer emotional support alongside my academic expertise to help you overcome any hurdles you encounter along the way.

Details
The hourly rate is a standard student concession I offer through Superprof for those who need ad hoc academic support. I also offer discounted packages for those in need of longer-term academic coaching and discretionary concessions for students with evidence of serious financial hardship. Payment plans can also be arranged when required. For example, intensive coaching over several hours a week for several weeks or months can be billed monthly for 2-3 months and paid over 6 months. I issue legally binding contracts to all my clients that require signing after the free lesson and before I start working with you. The contract details client confidentiality, intellectual property protection, data storage and my cancellation policy. The contract can be modified to include a payment plan if required.
