About Ely
I started learning Spanish ate age 6, and my exposure to world language began Hebrew school at age 2. I am fascinated by geography, world cultures, languages, and societies.
I am certified by the State of Massachusetts with the Seal of Biliteracy, a perfect score on the AP Spanish Language and Culture exam, and Gold Medal for the National Spanish Exam every year from 2018-2023.
I am currently an undergraduate student in the Kilachand Honors College at Boston University. I am double-majoring in International Relations of Latin America and Spanish. Although I speak Spanish fluently and near native proficiency, I recognize that I will always have room to improve.

My teaching method centers around what the student wants to learn, then what they need to learn to best supplement their skills. I find students to be most successful when they first learn what they are interested and later build upon it. A typical tutoring session with me includes a general check-in, review and questions about the previous section, and any developments made since. My sessions are held in the target language and I will pause and clarify to create proper understanding. I have outlined my sessions to be lessons in the form of conversation. For example, one session may feature conversation about favorite foods, and the student and I will role-play real-world conversations.
Different from many tutors, I am able to make my lessons fun, engaging, and approachable while still being productive, on task, and serious. I value making all students feel comfortable regardless of their background or skill set, making my lessons perfect for Spanish learners of all kinds.
My lessons are for Spanish speakers of all level, from elementary/no background knowledge to intermediate, and advanced to near native proficiency. I am willing to work with students of all ages, education backgrounds, and students with specific target issues.
