I am a very enthusiastic and supportive tutor specialising in English from KS3 (Year 7) up to and including degree level. I am keen to tutor both students who need some extra support with their school work, and students who are looking for an extra challenge beyond what they are receiving in their curriculum.
In my own educational background, I have 11 A* GCSEs, including English Literature and English Language. At A-Level, I took an AS in Italian and received an A grade. My A2 exams were in English, German, and Latin, for which I received an A*, A, and A* grade respectively. I then went on to study English at the University of Cambridge, where I received a first-class honours degree. I am currently halfway through a Secondary English PGCE course, training to teach English in secondary schools. This has already given me over a term's worth of experience working full-time as an English teacher, as well as detailed knowledge of both the National Curriculum and major exam board requirements.
I have a detailed subject knowledge which helps me to answer all questions with depth and clarity, and am skilled at building on students' prior knowledge to help them make progress in their understanding. I also have the patience and friendliness to make learning an enjoyable and comfortable process, no matter how confident a student feels in their own abilities. I believe in achievement and progress for all, regardless of the starting point.
