About Gregory

*** HIGHEST SCORING UCAT TUTOR ON SUPERPROF ***

Hello, my name is Greg and I’m an interview, UCAT, personal statement and CASPer wizz. I’m excited to help you on your medical school admissions journey!

As a graduate entry medic, I already hold a BSc from UCL. My performance during my undergraduate degree ushered me into a Trust Scholarship that would cover all my fees and costs whilst studying for my MPhil at Cambridge. I was also given extra funding for my MPhil thesis on meditation and ethics.

Following my studies, I spent time in various roles — as a health care assistant in a Rajasthani Slum Clinic; as a support worker at a homeless shelter; as a recovery worker in a detoxification unit; as an emergency first-responder; as a water-mentor for young people with mental and physical disabilities; and as a yoga and mindfulness instructor — to see if the graduate medicine course would be fitting for someone like myself. After deciding that there was no better career, I prepared very well and achieved ONE OF THE HIGHEST UCAT SCORES EVER RECORDED: *3490*. I also hit the highest score possible on the CASPer test (SJT), received 4 interviews and 4 offers.

My extensive academic and professional background no doubt influence the way I teach and how I interact with my students. I lead with compassion, understanding that each student is unique, with different strengths and weaknesses, and requiring different approaches to learning. My UCAT students are performing particularly well because I impart knowledge that is sound, useful and trustworthy. Students and parents alike are grateful to be able to engage with a more mature tutor as I provide a holistic approach to learning that compliments the content being covered. I am a firm believer in empowering students to perform well for themselves.

 Why choose me to become your tutor?

 - My 1-1 UCAT tutees averaged 2,340 (3,120 equivalent) in the 2025/2026 admissions cycle (range: 2,190 - 2,470).

 - I have many years of tutoring experience across a variety of subjects, from Oxbridge admissions essays to UCAT prep, and from A-level Philosophy to mock interview sessions.

 - Based on my own UCAT score I was subsequently poached by both MEDIFY and MEDENTRY to write questions for their decision making and quantitative reasoning sections. I have now progressed to the role of question reviewer. I thus have an unrivalled knowledge of the UCAT test.

 - As my profile outlines, I achieved one of the highest UCAT scores ever recorded and I am the highest scoring tutor on Superprof. Coupling this with my own student’s success and my work for Medify and Medentry means I can therefore confidently claim: my expertise in the UCAT is unmatched!

 - Tutoring is akin to mentoring. My tutees will receive a bespoke and unique service that covers all aspects of preparing for university. I will enable my tutees to consciously construct a medical school admittance that they deserve.

Whilst my academic timeline is perhaps markedly different from yours, our medical school admissions process will be the same. I therefore know how daunting and competitive the application process can be. However, I truly believe that with the right mindset, commitment and coaching, anyone can receive offers to their university of choice.

If you have any questions, please do reach out. I look forward to helping you achieve your UCAT, personal statement, CASPer, interview and, ultimately, medical school ambitions!

My lessons are based on my own unique preparation techniques. These methods enabled me to achieve one of the highest UCAT scores ever, the highest score possible in the CASPer and 4 interviews which were converted into 4 offers. And yet, my teaching style is not a dogmatic, one-size fits all approach. It is, in fact, a student-driven experience, where the needs and desires of the tutee are placed front and centre.

For the UCAT specifically, I will teach you what each section requires of a candidate, and how the sections are structured in such a way that makes them manageable to overcome.

Broadly speaking, I will engage with you on your weakest areas, whilst providing many time-saving tips and tricks that my students have never seen before, and find extremely useful. Although practice questions are important, and they will form a part of your learning, practicing incorrectly and inefficiently will only engrain bad habits — I can guide you to optimal question-solving speeds. As a QR question reviewer for Medify, and as a DM question writer for Medentry, I know how questions are structured… and how they can be efficiently solved!

I also have experience over many years guiding students through Oxbridge applications, tailoring essays/personal statements and prepping people for interview. Thus, from the very first whiffs of medical school, right through to those precious offers, I’m here to guide you through it all:

* UCAT Assessments and Tutoring *
A detailed tutoring service that covers all aspects of the UCAT. These lessons also outline extra, and oftentimes overlooked, UCAT information.

 - VR lessons will cover myriad reading methods to improve speed, my own ‘3-point triage’ method, and the various skills needed to solve answers quickly.

- DM sessions will explore, in detail, how to approach each question type. For example, when to use flow charts for Yes/No questions, how to eliminate incorrect logical puzzle answer options, and how to F.I.R.E arguments.

 - QR classes are focused on improving accuracy and speed, utilising last digit tricks and ‘calculation avoidance’ hacks.

 - SJT tutorials outline the fundamentals of medical ethics (4 pillars, informed consent, teamwork etc.) and how they are to be applied to given questions.

* Personal Statement Tutoring *
From creating a compelling narrative to providing touch ups to completed final drafts, as a Cambridge and UCL graduate I have years of essay writing experience that enables me to provide excellent personal statement assistance.

* Interview Tutoring *
Based on my own success at the interview stage for various jobs, universities and at 4 different medical schools. This service can include mock interviews, talking points, and ‘red flags’.

* General Admissions Assistance *
Covering tactical university choices, UCAS advice, and how you should be prioritising your time at each stage of the admissions cycle.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out for free initial phone consultation and we can go from there.

Warmest regards,

Greg

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

    As a graduate-entry medic I didn’t just ‘fall’ into medicine. My 5 years of study at Cambridge and UCL nuanced my understanding of what it means to help an ‘other’. Therefore, I embarked upon the medical school admissions process, only to find that there were 1000s of ideas on 1000s of topics. It took me a long while to sift through what was relevant. After securing one of the highest scores ever recorded in the UCAT, top marks in the CASPER, and 4/4 offers, I knew – given my years of tutoring in other subjects – that I could effectively condense what information I had gathered to productively help others in the same situation.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

    The medical school admissions process is notoriously competitive and complex. I like to discuss with students what worked well for me. I believe how I prepared and what I learnt is transmissible, and this shows with my own mentees scores and admissions success.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

    My supervisor for my master’s thesis at Cambridge showed me that compassionate, informed and collaborative decision-making provides optimal results. I like to bring this to all sessions with my mentees.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

    A good tutor is a mentor: a compassionate leader who is patient and able to understand the uniqueness of their mentee. Mentors must also be results-orientated, knowing how to make all sessions highly productive and enjoyable. This empowers students to want to learn for themselves. Moreover, mentors know that it is very important to engage with the parent and update regularly: all stakeholders need to be aligned and keen for progress.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

    I was educated at various state and private schools. Not many people have this privilege. It became clear to me why private school students perform better in exams: opportunity. To learn, to understand, to excel. This is the service I decided to provide by mentoring. I want to give you the opportunity to learn, to understand and to excel in all parts of the medical school admissions process.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

    It is not a level playing field when it comes to preparing for the UCAT or getting into medical school. After months of research, I was able to find out what skills were needed and practiced them. I can now teach them too. There may be brilliant candidates out there who did not have access to this knowledge: is this a fair assessment process?
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

    I am an avid waterman. I surf, sail, swim, dive, waterski, wakeboard and wingfoil. If it’s an activity on/in/under the water, I probably have experience in it. There is a certain sense of balance involved in all water sports, be that physical or mental. Mentoring is much the same in that mentees must not only be taught the raw materials, but shown why it is relevant, how they can adapt to current demands, and what traits are needed for success.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

    My approach is like no other. I provide a service that goes beyond simply teaching facts. Expect exceptional client care.
