About Sylvester
I absolutely love the Classical world, and I hope to inspire many others to be passionate about it too. Having in-depth debates about the Classical world is not only fascinating for me, but it also allows all sides to see the past in a different way and I hope it can encourage others to study Classics further. I feel that the study of the past is incredibly important for our understanding of the future, so I have a special interest in how history, especially the earliest civilisations, relate to the modern day and the impact that they have had throughout time. As such, I am incredibly eager to lead others in thinking about the intricacies of history through language, literature and culture. I have been taught these topics by leading professors in the UK, so I am confident that I can transmit and expand the information for anyone wishing to learn it.

My approach is to lead the student through the core information followed by practice and further explanations of the topic. I'm happy to do this little by little and slowly reinforce the information over time, or give all necessary information and consolidate all of it at once, whatever suits the student best. I aim to constantly communicate with the student to be aware of where they feel weak or comfortable in their studies, so that I can provide the most helpful tutoring in a way that would be best for the student. I can offer help to anyone wishing to learn Classics or its associated languages up to and beyond A-Level, whether they are starting from scratch or have previous experience. I can also aid in guiding someone through a personal statement or university entrance exam/interview. Of course, any ages are welcome. Typical lessons would be an hour long, but I'm flexible should the student want more or less.
