About Isabella
Hi! I’m a PhD student in Environmental Engineering at CU Boulder and a licensed Professional Engineer with a passion for helping students build confidence in math. I love to make learning clear, engaging, and fun. My goal is to help students understand why we're doing math and see how it applies to the real world. I’m patient, supportive, and great at breaking down tough concepts into simple steps. When I was in high school, I really struggled with calculus. But over time I built up my confidence and graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering and MS in Environmental Engineering from UMass Amherst (aka I did a lot of math!!) Now I'm pursuing my dream in graduate school and use math every day to design sustainable and safe water systems. Whether you’re catching up on homework, preparing for exams, or want to boost your confidence in math, I’m here to help! You got this!!!

I'm very patient and love to make learning fun. I like to focus on building confidence in my students and I believe that math is a powerful tool for understanding the world. Whether it’s through games, creative problem challenges, or connecting math to real-world projects (like drinking water systems), I keep lessons engaging and interactive. As a licensed Professional Engineer, I bring a real-world perspective to my tutoring. I help students see how the math problems they're working on connect to problems in real life, from designing sustainable systems to understanding how the environment works. My engineering experience allows me to teach not just how to solve problems, but how to think like a problem solver. I enjoy working with middle school and high school students, and find those "light bulb moments" to be so rewarding. I'm also a very goal-oriented person, so I would love to work with students to develop and achieve their math-related learning goals.
