About Guilherme
I have always been curious about mathematics and have been fascinated by understanding not only how things work, but why we learn them in the first place. One of my favourite questions has always been: how did someone come up with this idea? Rather than seeing formulae as isolated rules to memorise, I have always enjoyed exploring the intuition and ideas behind them.
I have benefited greatly from the many high-quality mathematical resources available online, which use visualisations and intuitive explanations to make difficult concepts accessible. These resources have shaped the way I learn and the way I approach teaching: by focusing on understanding first and techniques second.
I have always enjoyed helping others with mathematics and seeing the moment when a difficult concept finally clicks. I know the feeling of confusion before understanding an idea, and the confidence and satisfaction that comes when everything suddenly makes sense. Once you truly understand a concept, it becomes much easier to build on it and apply it to new problems.
I want to teach because I believe this style of learning can help many students become more confident and engaged with mathematics. My aim is to combine clear explanations, visual intuition and problem-solving techniques to help students not only improve their grades, but also develop a deeper appreciation and understanding of the subject.

I view mathematics as a subject built on intuition and understanding rather than memorisation. Instead of simply learning formulae or methods by heart, I believe it is far more valuable to understand why they work and develop the problem-solving skills needed to approach a wide range of questions. A key part of my approach is helping students see the bigger picture behind mathematical ideas, rather than focusing only on following a fixed procedure. Once the underlying concepts become intuitive, students can tackle unfamiliar problems with much greater confidence rather than relying on memorising a sequence of steps.
My lessons are centred on developing intuition first, followed by guided examples and plenty of practice. I encourage students to ask questions throughout, and I adapt explanations to the way each individual thinks. Whether a topic is being learnt for the first time or a student is preparing for an exam, my aim is to build genuine long-term understanding alongside the techniques needed to succeed.
Lessons are typically 1–2 hours, depending on the topic and the student's goals. A typical lesson begins by identifying areas of difficulty, then working through the key concepts together before applying them to progressively more challenging questions. I also spend time discussing problem-solving strategies and common mistakes, helping students develop confidence when approaching unfamiliar problems independently.
I have extensive informal experience teaching others. During the International Baccalaureate, I regularly explained mathematical concepts to classmates and helped friends studying A-Level Mathematics. At university, I have continued supporting fellow students by working through assignments, explaining difficult ideas, and focusing on the intuition behind the mathematics rather than simply providing solutions.
I teach GCSE, A-Level, IB Mathematics, and first-year university mathematics. Whether you are looking to build confidence, strengthen your understanding of difficult topics, or achieve the highest grades, I will tailor lessons to your goals and help you develop the skills to solve problems independently.
