About

I'm a full-time, professionally published novelist who loves the art of writing.

I've been publishing fiction professionally since 2011. Across three pen names, I've put out 40+ books in fantasy and romance. I have contracts with major publishing houses, including Podium, Tantor, Aethon, Wraithmarked, and Audible Studios.

Writing isn't a hobby for me. It's what I do every single day, and have for 15 years. I have a creative writing degree—classical, formal training in the mechanics of essays, analysis, critique, story structure, and storytelling. That foundation taught me the essence of storytelling and how to tell a riveting story. That, along with my extensive experience, is what I bring to every tutoring session: not just instinct, but the ability to explain what's happening on the page so you can do it again next time.

HOW I CAN HELP:

I work with writers and storytellers of all ages, though I have mostly worked with adults and high school students. I teach advanced writing craft, but I can start at any level to help you ascend.

A few areas where my background goes deeper than typical tutoring:

#1: Fiction writing and craft. This is my home turf. Plotting, character development, story structure, trope and genre work, pacing, dialogue, scene construction, revision strategy, and the art of finishing a draft. I write in fantasy and romance, but the underlying craft applies across genres. Whether you're writing literary fiction, thrillers, sci-fi, or contemporary, I can help.

#2: Long-form revision. Plenty of writers struggle with revision as opposed to the first draft. I was a professional editor in my early career and have revised more manuscripts than I can count. I can teach you how to revise yours without losing your mind.

#3: Serial fiction. If you're interested in episodic, web, or chapter-by-chapter release fiction, I can guide you on how that differs from traditional book structure.

#4: Publishing prep. After you finish your draft, publishing your book is its own uphill battle, and most writers don't know how to begin. I can help you navigate the path forward: query letters, synopses, agent research, deciding between traditional and indie publishing, and what to expect from each route. I've worked with major publishing houses and Audible Studios on the traditional side, and I was also one of the pioneers in indie publishing. Whether you're sending your first query or weighing a deal you've been offered, I can help you make informed decisions instead of guessing.

#5: Essays of every kind. Analytical, research, AP English assignments, and the academic writing that fuels most high school and college coursework. Whether you're staring at a blank page or trying to fix a draft you already hate, I help with thesis clarity, structure, evidence, voice, and revision. The skills that turn a passable essay into one that actually says something.

#6: College admissions essays. The Common App personal statement, supplemental essays, scholarship essays, transfer essays. I can help you turn lived experience into a compelling story. This is one area where my background goes deeper than typical tutoring because I know how to find the real story buried in someone's draft and help them tell it well.

HOW I TEACH

Direct and practical. We work on what you bring — your actual essay, your real chapter, your stuck outline. I read your work, ask questions, point out what's working, name what isn't, and give you concrete next steps.

I'm warm, but I'm very honest. When I give you compliments, it’s earned. The point of a session isn't to feel good about your writing—it's to leave with it stronger than when you arrived. (You usually feel good about it anyway. Real progress feels good.)

I also respect your voice. Whether you're 16 writing your first college essay or 45 writing your first novel, the goal isn't to make your work sound like mine. It's to make it sound more like you, sharper and more deliberate.
