About Sarah
I have been out of the classroom for almost 8 years as I have been a student myself. During the time I was an educator, I worked with hundreds of low-performing high school students--many of which passed the California High School Exit Exam (English portion), the first time, despite having begun their sophomore year reading and writing at a 5th grade level. My point of attack is to keep instruction concise and efficient and as relevant to the student as possible. Many of my former students were accepted (and graduated from) four year colleges including Stanford, UCLA and at least two students were awarded the Gates Millennium scholarship upon their graduation from high school.

I have three degrees--two BAs and an MS and am a 4th year PsyD student in Clinical Psychology. I was a high school teacher for six years where I taught different writing formats and helped students understand complicated texts. I moved on to school counseling because of my interest in psychology, and I have only one year to go before completing the academic portion of my doctorate in Clinical Psychology. My skill-base as an educator/coach is firmly set in meeting students where they are--meaning, the level at which the student is currently performing, will be the starting point.
