About Hélène
Hi, I'm Hélène! I'm a native English and French speaker based in London, with a BA in Public Health from Brown University and an MSc in Climate Change & Planetary Health from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).
For my master's thesis, I wrote a policy report on energy poverty initiatives in four European cities, using interviews and qualitative coding. That work, along with my previous master's and bachelor's coursework, taught me how to build a clear argument, work with evidence, and write for a specific audience, and I love helping students do the same.
I've tutored French to elementary students for a year, and I'm now completing a 120-hour TEFL certificate to strengthen my teaching. I'm patient, organised, and encouraging, and I explain things step by step.
Outside of tutoring, I'm passionate about the climate and public health. In my free time, I like to read, rock climb, and play the guitar.
If you'd like help with an essay, a dissertation, a personal statement, or your English, send me a message with your subject and your deadline, and we'll plan how to get you where you want to be :)

My lessons are one-to-one and built around your own work. Bring a draft, an essay question, or even just an idea, and we'll work together on structure, argument, clarity, and academic style.
In a typical session, we:
- Go through your draft and identify strengths and weaknesses
- Improve structure, flow, and referencing
- Practise turning your ideas into clear, well-argued paragraphs
- Plan next steps so you know what to do before the next lesson
I can help with personal statements for US and UK applications, as well as academic essay writing. Lessons are available online, in English (and French if you prefer).
