About Sophia
I am a committed undergraduate student at Durham University (a leading Russel Group UK university) who hopes to inspire, support and develop an enthusiasm and drive for English as a subject. I am able to provide a tailor-made learning experience for both those struggling with achieving top grades, and those wanting to be stretched and challenged further in order to prepare for potential study at leading universities. Having recently completed my A-levels, I have the most up to date knowledge on exam technique, set texts, personal statements and EPQ qualifications, all of which I will be able to apply to our lessons together. Lessons are promised to be professional, engaging and thought provoking - with of course, a lot of fun and laughter along the way!

Typical lessons will last 60 minutes with a focus on the area of study required. I am able to teach all ages from junior school and common entrance up until A-level students. My lessons are interactive and aim to stretch, challenge and bring a deeper level of understanding to the set literary works required. I adopt a personalised and tailored teaching style to help maximise your learning prospects to make sure I can help you achieve the best grades possible! A-level and GCSE students will benefit from exemplar full mark essays with step by step guidance of the exact process required to achieve top grades as well as discussions of set texts, themes and characters relating them to critical and contextual interpretations. Younger students will benefit from fun exercises to help improve SPAG and comprehension answers required for 11+ and 13+ exams as well as the development of ideas for creative writing tasks. I have had experience running English drop in clinics and private tutoring sessions 1-on-1 which act as a strong backdrop to my enthusiasm, commitment and passion for English as a discipline.
