About Yewande
As a dance instructor/choreographer, I've always felt it was important for me to have fun. I've been into fitness since I could remember, from weight class in high school to playing multiple sports. Fitness became a lifestyle and it was one I would keep till this day. Came to America from Nigeria at a very young age and it's normal to forget your language and some things you learned from back home but I was determined to keep my culture alive. I continued speaking my language, dancing our traditional dance and as I grew into my adult life, it became my main source of fitness. I realized, if I can see results and have this much fun getting healthy, why not teach others how to do the same. Yayafitness was born from my passion to stay fit and help others find their fitness goals through Afrobeat Dance Fitness.

I've been teaching for over 8 years and love what I do. Before the pandemic I was teaching at 2 different studios in Atlanta, GA but now I’m doing 1-on-1 sessions via Zoom and private in-person sessions. Perfect! Yewande “Yaya” is very amazing as my dance instructor. This year I want to do things that I thought I could never do but admire on others. She makes it possible for you to learn those complicated dance moves one step at a time. I’ll be returning for more dance lessons.

My very first introduction into African dance was with Yewande. Never have I ever had such a patient, giving, encouraging and amazing dance instructor like her! Now it is absolutely one of my favorite dance styles! I’ve learned so much from Yewande and continue to every class. She has a bright and positive spirit and a gift for dance. You’re lucky to have her as your teacher!! Highly recommended!!!
Not only is she an awesome dance but an even better teacher. I began taking her classes almost 4 years ago and I can truly say I've become an even better dancer! She has such a warm, inviting, motivating and energetic personality which matches well with her patience while instructing. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced dancer, she will surely give you a fun-filled dance fitness experience!! She's the best hands down!!!
