About Sophia
My name is Sophia, I'm 18 years old, and I recently got into Medicine School at the Federal University of Tocantins (UFT). I learned English for the most part self-taught and teach my students how to achieve the same, while also promoting conversation in that language. I have an Advanced Certificate on Global Citizenship for Social Impact awarded by the University of Pennsylvania and AFS, as in 2020 I was selected to participate in the bp Global STEM Academies program (2020-2021), thus becoming an AFS Alumni.

As I learned English in a self-taught and autonomous way, I prioritize teaching my students how to do the same and the techniques I used to do so. No textbooks. I managed to go from 0 in the language at age 13 to fluency at age 16. I promote classes to improve interpretation and reading, increase vocabulary and improve conversation in a fluid way.
I also help with school subjects and tasks.
