About Emily
My background in English is solid. At both GCSE and A Level, I achieved the highest possible grade in English Language - and high grades in English Literature. At present I am also studying for a master's degree in Gothic Literature, which is further helping to strengthen my knowledge and skills in English Literature generally. I have tutored students from many different countries and of all ages.

I am a qualified ESL teacher, with 2 years' experience teaching adults and children of all ages. I support ESL learners through conversation (I find the dogme method is best for this in adults), step-by-step grammar tuition using the PPP (Presentation Practice Production) method. In addition to ESL, I tutor secondary school pupils in English, supporting both the Language and Literature side. With this I will work with whichever curriculum the pupil is following and help support their understanding of the texts they are studying, as well as find and create writing exercises to suit their needs. My approach is empathetic, thorough and with the aim of assisting students to achieve the highest grades they can.
