About Ishle (Lani)
I have over 20 years of experience teaching creative writing, English, music in New York, California, and Hawai'i. I have taught for WriterCorps, YouthSpeaks, Urban Word, Teachers & Writer Collective, NYU and more. I am an award~winning writer with two books: The Temperature of This Water and Angel & Hannah (Random House). I am also the first woman Poet Laureate of Queens, New York. I have been a keynote speaker at numerous universities and have featured at over 500 venues sharing my original poetry, stories, and songs. I have taught music at Kailua Music School, Roots School, Kanuikapono Charter School, Malamalama Waldorf School, and have founded Sweet Harmony Music School on the Big Island of Hawai'i, serving music students ages 7 to 67.
