About Summer
Hi! My name is Summer. I have been teaching for over 10 years. I am an experienced Elementary and ESL teacher with a degree in Applied Linguistics, a Master’s in Elementary Education, and TEFL & ESOL certifications. As a proud mom of four, I understand the importance of creating a patient, supportive, engaging, and encouraging learning environment where children feel confident, comfortable, and excited to learn and grow.

I am an experienced Elementary and ESL teacher with a degree in Applied Linguistics, a Master’s in Elementary Education, and TEFL & ESOL certifications. I specialize in teaching English, phonics, reading, and spelling to young learners in a fun, supportive, and engaging environment.
My teaching approach focuses on building confidence while making learning enjoyable and meaningful. I use interactive activities, games, visuals, guided reading, phonics practice, and conversational support to help students grow at their own pace. I believe every child learns differently, so I personalize lessons based on each student’s learning style, goals, and current level.
A typical lesson may include phonics and pronunciation practice, reading comprehension activities, vocabulary building, spelling strategies, fluency exercises, and interactive discussions to strengthen speaking confidence. I also incorporate positive encouragement and repetition to help students feel successful and motivated.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my background in both elementary education and language learning. I understand how to support students academically while also creating a warm and encouraging learning environment where children feel comfortable participating and making mistakes as they learn. My experience working with multilingual learners and children of different abilities allows me to adapt lessons to meet each student’s individual needs.
My lessons are ideal for preschool, elementary, ESL, beginner, and developing readers who need support in English language development, phonics, reading fluency, comprehension, pronunciation, vocabulary, and spelling skills.
