About Kate
My name is Kate, and I am an applied mathematics major at Florida State University. I have worked as an assistant teacher at a preschool and have tutored at the elementary school level. However, I have helped many others in their studies at school in all subjects. I love helping my friends understand their math classes when they need help. Math is my passion along with teaching and I truly believe that each student is capable of learning any math that they want to. Each student learns in a different way, and I try to account for that whether it is using visual aids, example problems, or alternative methods.

Hello!
My name is Kate. I am an applied mathematics major at university right now. I have previous experience tutoring elementary school students in all subjects but can teach math up to Calculus 3.
My typical approach for tutoring is to go over the last lesson learned, especially paying attention to the homework assigned (usually homework is similar to material on the test). I create flowcharts for example problems with detailed instruction for the student to follow. This way, there is a visual component to the learning, and it is easy to distinguish which steps to follow for that problem. I find it very helpful to use this method because as a math major myself, I always want to know the reasoning behind the steps of the problem. I also create practice problems to study for upcoming tests, to make sure that all material is covered.
