About Beverley
I obtained my professional degree in architecture at Pretoria University in 2002, and have worked in the field since then, running Beverley Hui Architects. The field has taught me many lessons about diversification and standardization that I apply to almost every aspect of my life. It has also given me a vast experience of working with people. I was a top math's student throughout my academic career and love chess and biochemistry. Having two beautiful kids has taught me how to convey knowledge in a way that is both compassionate and interesting.

My lessons are 1 hour long and involve set-ups of chess scenarios. I first ask the student to think of their best move. We then discuss the benefits and risks. After that I propose one or two other suggestions and we see how these play out. At the end, I will play a game, or part of a game with the student and adjust my level to most benefit the learner. I give hints, allow take backs, and discuss various ramifications of decisions. This method has been proven to work on any level of player, from children to professionals! I have beaten Stockfish on level 4 - and am working on improving my chess all the time, so we are in the same boat!
