About Gary

I am highly qualified, holding a BA (hons) English, an MA Modern Continental Philosophy, and a PGDE Secondary English. I have been working in education for 20 years, having previously worked with 14-18 age range at a university, and I have been working with 11-16 age range at secondary school for the past four years. I have have excellent subject and curriculum knowledge, and have experience of tutoring English Literature and Language at KS2, KS3, and KS4. I am also an examiner for AQA with expert knowledge of the specifications for AQA English Literature and Language exams.

I hold an up to date DBS check for 2023 an d can provide a physical copy with my current address if you wish to see it. Academic references from my current school can be provided on request.

About the lesson

Tuition will be tailored to your specific needs. Once we establish your goals and the grades you want to achieve, we'll work together to identify your strengths and weaknesses, then I will design the tuition sessions to help you achieve your goals.

My approach to tutoring is results driven, but delivered in a friendly and relaxed manner; the sessions need to show strong evidence of learning within a pleasant and safe environment.

I am happy to travel for in-person sessions, or they can be done online. I can do from 1 hour upward per session. In the past 1hr 30 minutes is the ideal length for a KS3 ort KS4 session, whereas for KS2 it is better to keep it to 1hr only.
