About Mel
I’m a Newcastle-based artist and educator with a Bachelor of Fine Art (Ceramics) from National Art School, where I received the Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement. I also completed a Diploma of Visual Arts at Newcastle Art School. I hold a Bachelor of Clinical Sciences and Master of Osteopathy, graduating with a Distinction average. My studies included extensive anatomy, neuroanatomy and human structure and function, and I have previous experience tutoring neuroanatomy.

I offer individual art history lessons designed to make artworks, artists and movements easier to understand and discuss. I can help with visual analysis, understanding artworks in their historical and cultural contexts, researching artists and movements, and developing clear written responses.
As a National Art School Bachelor of Fine Art graduate, I have studied art history and theory alongside practical studio practice, and I particularly enjoy making connections between historical ideas, materials and contemporary art.
Lessons can be tailored to your current level, interests or specific study requirements.
