About Natashia
Hi! I am an English tutor. I found a passion for tutoring when I was the kid in school who had lots of challenges learning without someone there to give me creative tips and knowledge. In my free time, I am a painter and always thinking of more creative ways to help my students while creating real-life art! I am someone who blends creativity with professionalism to make learning both inspiring and effective. I design engaging lessons that spark curiosity while providing a structured, supportive environment where students can build confidence and excel in reading, writing, and communication.

My tutoring approach is personalized for all students, every student learns differently so I like to focus on understanding the students strengths and challenges before creating a plan, i also like to balance structure with creativity making lessons more enjoyable while meeting students academic goals.
Teaching methods that i like to use incorporate a variety of different techniques to make learning more interesting, discussion and critical thinking is just one of my techniques, relating literature or writing prompts to real-life experiences and personal interests (like art or music) to keep lessons relatable. There are also different types of students that prefer learning in different ways, for visual learners I like to incorporate graphic organizers, story maps, and diagrams, (my personal favorite). Another method I like to use for more creative students is engaging with texts by highlighting, note taking, and asking questions. Just a few more of my methods include writing workshops, discussion and critical thinking, and homework and test prep.
My typical lesson plan includes:
-Warm-Up (5-10 minutes) quick reading, journal entry, or creative prompt to engage the student.
-Skill Focus (20 minutes) work on a paragraph, essay, or creative piece. reading comprehension, analyzing a passage or poem. Grammar and vocabulary targeted exercises.
-Interactive Activity (15-20 minutes) creative or hands-on activity related to the lesson (mind map, story illustration, discussion).
-Review and Homework Guidance (10-15 minutes) Summarize what was learned, set clear, manageable homework goals, discuss strategies to overcome difficulties.
What sets me apart from other English tutors is my creative learning, I integrate artistic elements to help students understand and retain material. My personalized approach, each lesson adapts to the students learning style, interests, and school goals. I prioritize a supportive, non-judgmental environment where students feel safe to ask questions.
I know the expectations at each grade level, including essay formats, literary analysis, and vocabulary development.
