About Laura
I am a graduate of UNC Greensboro and Campbell University. I have experience teaching many levels and genres of English in a variety of settings, grades K-14. English literature, theatre, and academic writing are my favorite subjects. I also have acted on stage and screen, which is both rewarding and renewing. Creative writing is an area I am interested in. I teach freshmen composition and rhetorical writing at Methodist University, a private institution in Fayetteville, NC. I am adept at writing college entrance essays and letters as well as answering scholarship application questions.

There is no one approach. As I meet and work with my students, I develop lessons to best benefit them as individuals or within groups. One day we might use the Socratic method to discuss a topic; the next students may write and revise, and the next we may practice enunciation for speaking and reading (phonetics). I also use the many ways a student learns. I might use music or skits to help a student; however, the approach always leads to the following: Can a student get his or her ideas on the paper clearly and support said ideas?
