About Elizabeth
Hello, my name is Lizzie and I am excited to introduce myself as an experienced professional and passionate tutor. I bring a unique perspective to tutoring, having founded and run a sustainable activewear business. This experience has taught me invaluable skills in communication, problem-solving, and time management, which I apply to my tutoring work.
I recently left my strategy role to focus on my business, but I am also currently completing a digital skills course. This demonstrates my commitment to continuous learning and development, and I strive to stay ahead of the curve in terms of the latest techniques and approaches in education. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and skills with students, helping them to realise their full potential and achieve their academic goals.
I chose to focus on tutoring GCSE students because I believe this is a crucial stage in a student's academic journey. This is a time when many students are starting to find their academic feet and facing new challenges. I am confident in my ability to guide students through these challenges, providing support, and helping them to develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.
My approach to tutoring is tailored to each individual student, taking into account their unique learning style, strengths, and weaknesses. I am a patient, supportive, and approachable tutor, always ready to listen and offer guidance when needed. I use a variety of teaching techniques, including visual aids, real-life examples, and interactive exercises, to make learning engaging and enjoyable.
In conclusion, my experience, skills, and passion for teaching make me an ideal tutor for GCSE students. I am confident that I can help students reach their full potential and achieve academic success. I am excited to work with students who are looking to develop their skills and knowledge, and I look forward to the opportunity to help them succeed.

As a tutor, my approach is always student-led, which means I adapt my teaching techniques and methodologies to the needs and learning style of each individual student. My goal is to help students understand the subject matter at a deeper level, so they can confidently apply their knowledge and achieve their academic goals.
For students who are having difficulty with a certain topic or subject, I usually start by breaking down the concepts into smaller, more manageable parts. Then, I use various teaching techniques such as visual aids, real-life examples, and interactive exercises to help the student grasp the material. I encourage questions and critical thinking, as this helps students to understand the subject better.
For students who need more general learning or GCSE exam preparation, I follow a structured approach to cover all the key topics. I assess the student's strengths and weaknesses, and then create a personalised study plan tailored to their needs. I provide regular feedback and support, so students can track their progress and improve their grades.
My typical lesson length is 45 minutes to an hour, as I believe this is the optimal time to maintain focus and engagement. However, I am flexible and can adapt to longer or shorter lesson times based on the needs of the student.
As for my qualifications and experience, I achieved high grades in Chemistry, Biology, Maths, and Geography at A-level. I also have a 2.1 degree in Economics from Durham University. I have experience tutoring Chemistry and Maths at both GCSE and A-level, and have received positive feedback from my students.
My lessons are designed for GCSE students, specifically for 14-16-year-olds. I believe this is a crucial stage in a student's academic journey, and I am passionate about helping students to achieve their potential and succeed in their exams.
