About Lyssa
I'm in the process of publishing my first book and writing my second. I'm a high school senior and dual enrollment student, majoring in business with a concentration in creative writing. I'm considering getting my English degree as well because I love to teach. I grew up an honors student with a knack and love for writing. English was always my favorite and as I advanced in school, I felt sad realizing the magic subject was often lost on many students from simply a lack of understanding or teachers who were willing to guide them to be better. Though I did well in school, I realized that not everyone learned the same. Even I struggled at times! Reading and comprehension are fundamental skills that I aim to help kids cultivate within themselves and perhaps even form a love for English as I have.

Not everyone learns the same and English can be a challenge for some! Students learn best with good instructors who understand the material as well as their students' needs. For nonfiction studies, we'll work on analyzing texts (articles, rhetoric, etc.) and write responses/essays. For fiction studies, we'll analyze works of others and work on crafting your own. I encourage students to bring material from their school classes to work directly on what they're studying in the classroom. I'll guide my students through each step of the process, cater personally to their learning needs, and provide positive encouragement and reinforcement throughout. The best part about tutoring English is that I'll be able to provide texts and topics that interest my students, helping to keep them engaged and interested in what they're learning. I will also help with spelling, grammar, and writing structure as well! My lessons are catered toward students from middle to high school age. Will take place virtually.
