About Thomas
I graduated from Drama Studio London, one of the top 10 drama schools in London, in 2018 and since have worked consistently as an actor, theatre-maker, and film director for ITV studios, the Stockwell Playhouse, the Cockpit Theatre, The Hope Theatre, the Edinburgh Fringe and the Camden Fringe.
I have extensive tutoring experience in French and English Literature as well, which has given me the necessary pedagogy to train actors of all ages and cater for their varied needs. Acting is a very competitive industry and a demanding craft: learning it isn’t meant to be easy. But I truly believe it’s meant to be fun: I will challenge you and empower you, but I will always try to keep it fun.
In the past I have helped actors secure professional work, drama school places, and stage their own work.
I specialise in screen acting, audition technique, Shakespeare/classical texts performance and analysis, stage acting, stagecraft, and Meisner technique. But my first duty is always to adapt to your needs, whether you want to start from scratch, brush up on your skills, or have a very specific objective (such as a professional audition, preparing for drama school, self-taping, softening your accent, learning a specific acting technique etc..).

WHAT AN ACTING LESSON WITH ME LOOKS LIKE:
First I want to adapt my approach to you. I might ask you to read or perform a small monologue to get a sense of who you are.
One of my favourite things is to empower actors: to bring their own creativity to a role, and to give themselves permission to offer new things to the director. It’s a guaranteed way to stand out in audition and to stay sane during a long theatre run or shooting schedule.
(I’m a firm believer in getting things ‘on their feet’, so I promise we won’t spend hours analysing material.)
WHAT A DRAMA SCHOOL AUDITION PREP LOOKS LIKE:
This lesson is always tailored to your chosen drama schools. I will help you prepare your audition from the ground up, helping you choose the ideal monologues to help you showcase your skills and make you stand out.
WHAT AN AUDITION PREP/SELF-TAPE COACHING SESSION LOOKS LIKE:
Whether it’s for stage or screen, getting an audition these days is a win in itself: it’s a chance to shine and make a mark regardless of the outcome. Casting directors have incredible memories and always remember a memorable performance. My aim is to make sure you’ve explored the audition sides/role as thoroughly as possible, with an emphasis on emotional intelligence rather than an intellectual analysis of the text.
Once prepared, you will feel confident tackling that audition scene as many times as needed and as variedly or consistently as needed.
THE BUSINESS SIDE OF THINGS:
Only when I have learnt to know who you are, your strengths and weakness and ambitions, can we chat about the ‘business’ side of things: headshots, websites, agents, showreels, networking, strategies and so on.
As an actor and screen/stage director I have a unique approach to teaching the craft. It’s normal to want to become a versatile actor, but it’s almost more important to know your casting and your strength at the beginning of your career.
I believe in empowering who you are as a person and focusing on what uniqueness you bring to a role, to create a strong foundation that will help you face the rollercoaster that is a career in acting.
A FEW WORDS ABOUT SHAKESPEARE:
At Drama Studio London I was trained by someone who I believe is the best Shakespearean teacher in the business. Not only did he train us to understand and master Shakespeare’s language and the unique way he has of directing his actors within the text, but more importantly Chris made us fall in love with the language, and with performing it.
Shakespeare was an actor who wrote for actors. That’s how we’ll approach his work: we’ll learn rhythm, tone, body language, choices, audience interaction (a personal favourite), and the emotional truth behind archetypes, but more importantly we’ll take his words and make them yours, so you can feel free to explore both in rehearsals and during performance.
