  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I developed a keen interest in architecture during my high school years when I was exposed to various design principles and the impactful role architecture plays in shaping our surroundings. This fascination grew as I pursued my undergraduate studies in Architecture, and later earned my master's degree, where I further delved into the complexities of design, urban planning, and sustainable practices.

My interest in private tutoring emerged organically during my college years as I found passion in helping my peers understand challenging concepts and excel in their coursework. This passion for guiding others in their academic journey continued as I worked for three years as a design tutor at the university, where I provided support and mentorship to students. Recognizing the value of personalized learning, I decided to extend my passion for architecture to tutoring, aiming to guide students in grasping architectural principles and fostering their creativity. This combination of my academic achievements, practical experience, and the rewarding aspects of tutoring has been a fulfilling journey that continues to evolve.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

As a tutor, my primary focus has been on teaching design principles and sustainability in architecture. I am particularly passionate about guiding students through the intricate world of design, emphasizing the importance of materiality and material design in creating sustainable and innovative structures. This involves exploring the properties and potentials of different materials, as well as understanding their environmental impact.

Having worked extensively in the professional field, I bring a wealth of real-world experience to the classroom. This allows me to connect theoretical concepts with practical applications, providing students with insights into the industry's evolving demands. I find great satisfaction in bridging the gap between academic knowledge and professional practice, enabling students to not only grasp the theoretical foundations but also appreciate how these principles are applied in the field.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Maybe yes I have a few not only one and the one I am learning from his supervision nowadays is Norman Foster, he has been a significant role model and a source of inspiration for me in the field of architecture. Currently working under his supervision, I have had the privilege of witnessing firsthand his visionary approach to design and his unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of architectural innovation.

Being mentored by someone of Norman Foster's caliber has been a transformative experience, shaping not only my technical skills but also instilling in me a profound appreciation for the profound impact architecture can have on our environment and society.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

The qualities required to be a good tutor include Expertise, Communication Skills, Patience, Adaptability, Encouragement, Empathy, Passion, Feedback, Organisational Skills, and Continuous Learning.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

During my undergraduate years, one memorable experience that truly highlighted the power of design occurred during a collaborative project. Our assignment was to redesign a public space to enhance community engagement. As a team, we brainstormed ideas, incorporating sustainable principles and user-friendly elements.

What made this project memorable was the unexpected positive impact it had on the community. After implementing our design, the space became a hub for social interaction, fostering a sense of unity among residents. Witnessing the transformation and the genuine joy it brought to people reinforced my belief in the transformative potential of thoughtful design.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

Two primary challenges that many architects often face include complex project dynamics, keeping pace with technological advances, and definitely very long working hours.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My passion lies in teaching various aspects of architecture at all levels of education. I find passion in sharing knowledge, whether it's design principles, sustainable practices, or the intricacies of software like Revit, Photoshop, and Indesign. Additionally, I am enthusiastic about coaching students and professionals and providing guidance for their career development. The intersection of education, design, and career coaching allows me to contribute to both the academic and professional growth of individuals in the field of architecture.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

Beyond the ability to answer the interview questions with a touch of humor, what makes me a Superprof is my commitment to fostering a dynamic and enriching learning experience. I bring a blend of academic expertise, practical industry experience, and a passion for teaching. My dedication to tailoring lessons and trackers to individual needs, incorporating real-world applications, and providing mentorship for career development sets the stage for a comprehensive and impactful educational journey. I strive to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary for success in the field of architecture.
