About Nick
I am a 34 year old, passionate, and experienced tutor. I have BA(Hons) in English Literature and Theatre Studies from Warwick University, and have 2 Master's degrees (both high distinction) from Manchester University and Warwick University. I now live in the Coventry area, and am finalising a PhD Warwick University, where I teach undergraduates whilst completing my own research.
I have been teaching for over 12 years, and have an exceptional track record. I am an award winning teacher at Warwick University, having won the Warwick Award for Teaching Excellence (WATE) in 2022, and recently been nominated again in 2024. I also offer university admission support, involving helping structure and support students on their university applications. I have worked for several years as a university admission tutor at a Russell Group university, and have expertise in drafting and helping to write applications for students, particularly at Russell Group universities. I take a very personalised approach to teaching, adjusting my methods to suit each student. I firmly believe that each student is different, and the same methods will not work for all. My own experiences with tutoring have shaped how I tend to believe that young people learn. Working to get the best out of each student is how I choose to work, and each person's strengths ultimately pay off in regards to their grades. My sessions are often relaxed, informal, and encourage wider thinking on the topic that gives my students the opportunity to find their own 'voice' -- often empowering students to take the initiative and want to sit their exams, rather than have to sit them.
I strongly believe that students need to take a level of ownership over their studies, and I foster a sense of responsibility for their own learning that translates across all of their studies and prepares them for both further study and work.
All of my students achieved their desired/predicted grades, many far exceeded them, and I have an enviable track record of success with my students surpassing their predicted grades.
