About Poppy

As the Founder & Lead Educator of Poppy’s Tutoring Company and a Director on the Board of the Tutors Association I know the education system inside out. Trusted by families worldwide, I bring over a decade of experience in education, blending academic excellence with emotional safety and genuine care.

Before founding Poppy’s Tutoring, I worked directly within the education system, writing EHCPs and care plans that shaped support for students with diverse needs. This gave me deep knowledge of how schools, specialists and families can work together. I use this knowledge to tailor every lesson to the families I work with.

I am Cambridge‑trained in English and a qualified Dyslexia Specialist, with expertise in neurodiversity including ADHD, ASD, selective mutism, dyscalculia and dyslexia. I collaborate closely with schools, private specialists, educational psychologists and language assessors to ensure every child receives the right support.

My track record:

100% acceptance rate into entrance exam schools

Students consistently achieve two to three grade improvements above baseline

Scholarships awarded and placements secured at leading schools

Students I’ve supported have gained entry to top co‑educational schools (Dulwich College, Alleyn’s, Bryanston, Canford, St Dunstan’s, Eaton House, Finton House), selective grammar schools (Poole Grammar, Parkstone Grammar, Bournemouth School for Boys & Girls), and leading girls’ schools (James Allen’s Girls’ School, Sydenham High, Cheltenham Ladies’ College).

At a national level, I work with schools, universities, and government bodies to push the education sector forward, ensuring tutoring is recognised as a powerful force for change.

What sets me apart is my ethos: I don’t just tutor … I build confidence, nurture curiosity, and help children grow into themselves. My lessons are structured yet joyful, rigorous yet fun. Parents describe me as kind, patient and caring, with a gift for turning nervous learners into confident achievers.

Choosing me means choosing an educator who blends proven results with heart , ensuring progress that lasts far beyond the classroom. 🫶🏼

My English lessons spark curiosity, build confidence and develop a genuine love for learning. Whether we’re analysing literature, refining essay technique or exploring creative writing, I help students understand texts deeply and communicate with clarity.

Lessons are interactive, discussion-led and tailored to each learner. I use questioning to stretch thinking, supported by bespoke resources such as annotated texts, planning frames, exam-style questions and creative prompts.

As a Cambridge-trained English specialist, SEN educator, and Director on the Board of The Tutors’ Association, I bring over a decade of experience teaching KS2 to A-Level.

I also prepare students for 11+, 13+, GCSE, A-Level and independent school entrance exams, blending rigour with warmth so learners feel both challenged and safe to grow.
But no matter the age or level, all lessons are shaped around each learner and their needs!

Parents receive clear, story-led lesson reports that highlight progress, confidence and next steps. Students describe my lessons as motivating and uplifting; parents say I help their child feel seen, understood and capable of achieving beyond expectations.

If you’re looking for an expert tutor who combines kindness, high standards and proven results, I’d love to support your learner’s journey.
