About James
I began learning German as a high school freshman, and continued receiving formal instruction throughout the rest of high school and university. I hold a BA from UCSD, and although my diploma states "With a major in German Literature", in my case it was really more about mastering the language and learning about the comparative linguistics of standard German, its many dialects, and its close relatives in the Germanic languages group. With the advent of readily available German media online, I have stepped up my own usage and now feel ready to help others achieve greater understanding and fluency.

I work by receiving your questions and ideas for further exploration, and helping you understand how the language works. It may seem like a daunting project to master German, but there is an underlying logic and structure to the language which eventually will fall in place. I
Another strategy is to find a German film or TV show which we can both access, have you watch it, and then discuss it to evaluate your listening comprehension. Because I am not verbally (orally) fluent, we would be doing this by exchanging emails or PMs.
