About Genevieve

I believe that every student has the right to a wholistic, individualized education that speaks to their own values, abilities, and unique funds of knowledge. Every student deserves to be met where they are, to be given a reliable support system, and the equitable opportunity to discover their own abilities, dreams, and passions in life. It is my goal to be able to instill in students what has so purposefully been shared with me from my own support systems, and the Indigenous peoples of this land, and that is, to practice respect in all that we do.

My approach to teaching is holistic, reliable, and adaptable. I believe the most important element of a successful learning environment is to make sure every student is seen, heard, and made to feel as though they are a valuable part of that environment. Furthermore, I believe that students benefit from expectations and routines that they can help to create, become familiar with, and rely on. I strive to create learning environments that are student-centered, mindfully structured, and emergent.

It is my goal and passion to create lessons that are as inclusive and diversified as possible. I believe that presenting students with lessons that consider a wide range of learning styles and abilities can lead to more consistent participation and purposeful engagement. Through a commitment to differentiation in both instruction and assessment, students will be introduced to new perspectives and will begin to find meaningful ways to share their own learning with others.
- A typical lesson plan would be multi-modal and would engage the student by utilizing a wide range of delivery methods such as video, song, rhyme, story, drama, physical actions, games, etc. Students would be introduced to the topic/lesson at hand, worked through a number of activities to engage their learning and affirm understanding, and they would then be further shown ways in which they can take their learning out into the world.

I am extremely passionate about teaching and helping children to develop their sense of independence and individuality. I strive to create exceptional and lasting connections with my students that will aid in their ability to engage with the learning and have pride in the work they are doing.
