About Walid
I have a Bachelor of Science from McMaster University with a background in Neuroscience and Psychology. My academic background has given me a strong foundation in analytical thinking, problem-solving, and understanding complex ideas.
As a tutor, I take a patient and thoughtful approach to teaching. I believe that mathematics is best learned through genuine understanding rather than memorizing formulas or following procedures without knowing why they work.
My goal is to help students build a strong foundation, develop confidence in their abilities, and ultimately become independent problem-solvers.

My approach to teaching mathematics is focused on understanding rather than memorization. I believe students learn math best when they understand not only how to solve a problem, but why the methods work in the first place.
I start by breaking concepts down to their most fundamental ideas and building the theory carefully from there. We take the time to make sure the underlying definitions, principles, and logic are clear before moving on. This gives students a solid foundation that they can actually build upon, rather than relying on formulas or procedures that they may forget later.
Once the concept is understood, we work through examples and progressively more challenging exercises. The goal is to turn theoretical understanding into practical problem-solving ability. I encourage students to explain their reasoning, identify where they are getting stuck, and learn how to approach unfamiliar problems rather than simply following a set procedure.
Whether you're struggling with the basics or trying to develop a deeper understanding of more advanced mathematics, I aim to make sure that every step makes sense before moving forward. The ultimate goal is not just to get the right answer, but to develop the mathematical intuition and problem-solving skills to figure out why the answer is right.
