About Finbar
I have a big interest in history, in the present, and in culture, and I like to explore my interests through films, through reading, and through conversation.
I spent many years growing up diving through literature, and went to university to pursue my passion for the world surrounding me!
I have written short stories, essays, poetry, music, and one work which resembles a novel!
I like to pass on what I know, and I like to learn from the people that I talk to and the places that I travel to.

I like to use techniques of reference and relation. My classes take on an informal format, with emphasis on allowing the class to develop freely in any direction, so that my student can learn to express themselves while also learning to speak in a natural tone.
My classes would take place under the pretext of having, for example, watched a film. The student and I would discuss, taking an interest perhaps in the ideas presented, the historical context, or the cinematic techniques.
My specializations as a tutor, in relation to my degree in a cultural studies course, is that I can teach English with the use of critical thinking, so that my student can learn the English language while also gaining a better understanding of popular English culture.
My classes are aimed at all levels of proficiency in English, and to all cultures and classes, and would be suited to those interested in learning through a cultural and historical lens!
