About Shannon
My focus in graduate school was American Literature since 1882 and African American Literature. I am the first in my family to graduate in both undergraduate and graduate school, so I understand and can empathize with others that may not be confident in pursuing higher education. I did not have anyone in my life that could make things easy for me by telling me what the right steps were, I had to rely on my own resilience to see my education through to the end. Throughout school, I maintained a 3.8 GPA, and I learned exactly what professors are expecting when it comes to literary essays. I have experience in public education teaching English, and I have the certification and knowledge of higher education in English Literature. In order to receive my Master’s, I also had to take an English Literature Comprehension Exam that was graded by a board of English professors. (Talk about nerve-wracking). So I understand all of the stressors and worries that pursuing higher education can bring. I would love to help other scholars reach the next level in education as well as pass down what I have learned in my academic career.
