About Isla
I am a passionate flute tutor who loves helping students grow both creatively and technically. My teaching combines mentorship, critical thinking, creativity, and accountability. I focus on tone, phrasing, rhythm, and breath control while encouraging musical expression. I also include music theory, sight-reading, and listening exercises to strengthen overall musicianship. Creativity is a central part of my lessons, with improvisation, small compositions, and expressive exercises included.
I guide students to set goals, stay consistent, and take ownership of their learning. Mistakes are treated as opportunities for growth and reflection. I adapt lessons to each student’s pace, skill level, and personal interests. I act as a mentor, offering guidance, motivation, and constructive feedback in every session. Lessons are structured but engaging, balancing technical development with creative exploration. I emphasize reflection, problem-solving, and independent thinking in all lessons.
My goal is to build confidence, independence, and a love for music in every student. I also teach related subjects such as performance preparation, rhythm, and theory. I create a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel encouraged. My ultimate goal is to help students become expressive, confident, and passionate musicians.

I teach flute with a focus on creativity, critical thinking, and structured learning. I believe students learn best when they are curious, supported, and challenged. Each lesson is designed to help students understand music deeply while developing technical skill. I act as a mentor, guiding students to explore sound, phrasing, and rhythm. Accountability is central—I help students set goals and take responsibility for practice.
Lessons include tone exercises, breath work, rhythm drills, and expressive playing. I also teach theory, sight-reading, and ear training to strengthen understanding. Creativity is encouraged through improvisation, composition, and personal interpretation. Mistakes are seen as steps toward improvement, not failure. My teaching is flexible to suit different learning styles and skill levels.
I emphasize reflection, self-evaluation, and problem-solving in each class. I provide positive feedback to build confidence and motivation. I also teach related subjects like music theory and performance skills. Each lesson is structured to balance discipline with fun. My goal is to help students develop into confident, independent, and expressive musicians.
