Hi, I'm Bakang from Pretoria, with an honours degree in human sciences. I help learners in grade 8 to 12, to improve their marks and confidence in English, life sciences or biology, study skills.

About Bakang
Hi, I'm Bakang Merriam from Pretoria.
I have a degree in Human Sciences. I chose Human Sciences because I've always been interested in people - how we think, how we learn, and why some learners struggle even when they are smart.
In school, English and Biology were my favourite subjects, but I saw many of my friends fail not because they were not clever, but because it was not explained in a way that made sense to them. That's where my interest for teaching started
For me, teaching is not just about getting a distinction. It's about that moment when a learner says 'Ohhh, now I understand!' That moment changes their confidence.
I teach because I know what it feels like to be confused in class and scared to ask. In my lessons, there are no stupid questions. We go at your pace until you feel confident to answer on your own in the exam.
If you work with me, I will be patient, I will be honest about what you need to fix, and I will be in your corner until you pass.

In my lessons you will get 3 things:
1. Simple, not complicated. I break Biology and English into small pieces. If you don't understand, it's my job to explain it differently until you do. No judgement.
2. Exam-focused. We don't just read the textbook. We work on how to answer for marks, how examiners think. So you don't lose marks you already know.
3. Support. I check your work between lessons on WhatsApp, I send voice notes if you're stuck. You are not alone until exams.
By the end of each lesson, you will leave with at least 1 thing you can use in your next test.
