About Zoé
I'm a native French and English speaker, so I'm speaking to you in my mother tongue, and also teaching you my mother tongue!
I have experience teaching anyone from very young children to adults, helping my students with basic vocabulary and communication, conversational french, but also formal writing and complex reading assignments. My work as a gymnastics teacher and camp counsellor has also exposed me to disparate and contrasting learning needs, making me a versatile, patient and adaptable tutor. In short, I am equipped to help you with a wide range of priorities, and will be drawing on a variety of teaching experiences that have allowed me to develop my pedagogical approach.
I have helped students who have both thrived and struggled with the school-teacher approach to language learning, and in doing so built up my own methods. The focus of my program is first on getting comfortable and confident with the sound system of the language, and then progressing into the more complex grammar aspects by finding topics and cultural cues that you - the student - can have fun and play around with. This engages your attention and keeps your brain working even when you're not, far more than remembering tables off by heart.
I teach children and adults with a mixture of levels, and will build a lesson plan anywhere from beginner to advanced. If you are interested, I can provide references and I am DBS checked.

Hello! Bonjour!
Whether you're a novice excited to get started, or a confident intermediate looking to increase your vocabulary and get more comfortable in conversation, if you've made it on to my page you're looking for lessons we can build together with your goals in mind. Maybe you've just started learning with a language learning app and you've decided to take it to the next step, or maybe you've been learning for a while and nothing has quite worked for you. Either way, I'm delighted to say you've come to the right place.
I will build a lesson plan tailored to your priorities: want to work on pronouncing those u and r sounds you've been struggling with? Need to be able to read comfortably in French, or want to learn just enough to get by when you get to France? Or maybe you have a language exam for school, work or you'd like to bolster your CV with a language? I will create an engaging and fun program that allows you to reach that goal, all while becoming secure and relaxed about your French skills.
I emphasise the importance of pronunciation, communication skills, and most of all the importance of keeping you enthusiastic to engage with the language - the grammar and spelling will come much easier when approached through the lens of topics you want to be able to write or talk about, rather than trying to sit down and learn tables off by heart. You'll remember it better that way, too!
I incorporate cultural elements as well, because part of the enjoyment of learning a language is gaining access to a whole new culture, and if I can get you hooked on french music or films you'll end up practicing between lessons without even knowing it!

I had online lessons with Zoé to help me prepare for my wedding in France.
