About Rachael
I am a student at the University of California, Berkeley, and I come from a highly competitive academic background. Having experienced rigorous coursework and high-pressure exams myself, I understand how important these tests are and what it takes to succeed in them. This allows me to guide students not only with the material, but also with effective strategies, time management, and confidence-building.
I approach tutoring with a positive, patient, and compassionate mindset. I believe that every student is capable of improvement with the right support, and I make it a priority to create a comfortable environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions and learn at their own pace. My goal is to ensure that students truly understand the material and feel confident applying it on their own.

As a tutor, my goal is not just to help students get the right answer, but to make sure they truly understand why it’s correct. I focus on building intuition first, then connecting it to equations and problem-solving strategies. I break complex concepts into simple steps, use visual explanations when possible, and constantly check for understanding so students don’t fall behind.
A typical lesson starts with a quick review of previous material or any questions the student has. Then we introduce or revisit a key concept, followed by guided practice where I walk the student through problems step-by-step. As the lesson progresses, I gradually reduce guidance so the student can solve problems independently. We finish with a summary of key ideas and, if needed, targeted practice problems to reinforce learning.
