About Sofia
Hi, I’m Sofia! I’m a bassist, vocalist, composer, and producer with a passion for using music as a tool for healing and connection. I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Electronic Production and Design. While at Berklee, I was honored to be part of both the Berklee Global Jazz Institute and the Jazz and Gender Justice Institute, studying under incredible mentors like Victor Wooten, Terri Lyne Carrington, Danilo Pérez, John Patitucci, Ledisi, and more.
I specialize in teaching: 1. Upright and Electric Bass 2. Music Production 3. Songwriting 4. Music Theory I also offer beginner to intermediate lessons in: 1. Piano 2. Voice My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and focused on building a strong musical foundation. I’ve worked with students of all ages and backgrounds, and I tailor each lesson to your individual goals—whether you're starting from scratch or looking to refine your creative voice.
Some highlights of my career include teaching at the Panama Jazz Festival, and performing at the Meet Boston Music Festival, Cambridge Jazz Festival, Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival. Welcome to my studio! I offer one-on-one lessons for all ages designed to support each student’s individual goals and learning style. Whether you're just starting out or looking to deepen your musical skills, my lessons are tailored to meet you where you are—and help you grow with confidence and clarity.
For bass students, I focus on building strong fundamentals: proper technique, tone, groove, fingerboard knowledge, and understanding your role in an ensemble. We can also dive into ear training, improvisation, walking bass lines, and soloing depending on your interests and level!
In music production lessons, I can guide you through DAW navigation (Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Pro Tools), MIDI and audio recording, beat-making, arranging, mixing, and creative sound design. For piano and voice, I offer beginner to intermediate lessons with a focus on building a strong foundation.
Piano students can explore note reading, rhythm, music theory, and chords, while voice students can work on breath support, pitch, tone, vocal health, and confidence. Songwriting lessons center around lyric writing, melody, harmony, and song structure.
Whether you’re writing your first song or refining your style, I’ll help you develop your voice as a songwriter. My goal is to help you build a solid foundation while making space for joy, curiosity, and artistic discovery.
