About Grayson

I have 12 years of tutoring experience in Piano and teach school students, college students, and working professionals. I am committed to creating a comfortable learning environment where students can improve their piano skills at a steady and enjoyable pace.

My teaching philosophy is based on the idea that learning should be personalized. I first understand the student's experience, goals, interests, and learning style. I then plan lessons that match their needs and provide enough challenge to help them grow.

I teach piano basics, posture, finger exercises, scales, chords, rhythm, music theory, note reading, sight-reading, ear training, song practice, improvisation, and performance skills. I combine theory and practical playing so students can understand how each concept is used.

I use simple explanations and demonstrations because I believe complicated ideas can often be made easier with the right example. I encourage students to practice each skill carefully and ask questions whenever they need clarification.

Patience and positive communication are important parts of my teaching. I do not want students to feel discouraged when they make mistakes. Instead, I help them identify the problem, understand the correction, and try again with confidence.

A notable achievement in my teaching journey is gaining nine years of experience guiding students from different age groups and educational backgrounds. This has helped me become more flexible and understanding as a tutor.

I also help learners develop discipline and time management through realistic practice plans. My goal is to help students eventually become independent musicians who can learn new pieces, practice effectively, and enjoy playing without depending completely on a tutor.

Whether you are a beginner, an intermediate learner, or someone returning to piano after a break, I provide personalized lessons and continuous encouragement.

My teaching approach combines Adaptation to Learning Styles, Flexibility, Collaboration, and Positivity. I believe piano lessons should match the student's needs instead of following one fixed teaching method. I create a friendly and structured learning environment where students can develop their skills with confidence.

I first learn about the student's musical experience, interests, strengths, and goals. I then create lessons that balance piano technique, music theory, practice, and song learning. Students develop skills such as finger coordination, posture, note reading, rhythm, scales, chords, sight-reading, and musical expression.

To support different learning styles, I use visual demonstrations, listening exercises, written music, repetition, and practical playing. I explain difficult topics in simple English and connect theory with actual piano exercises. This helps students understand the purpose behind what they are playing.

I remain flexible throughout the learning process. Some students need more time to master a particular skill, while others are ready for greater challenges. I adjust exercises, songs, and practice goals based on their progress.

Collaboration allows students to become active in their own learning. I encourage them to communicate their interests, discuss challenges, select suitable pieces, and participate in setting realistic goals. I believe this creates greater motivation and responsibility.

My positive approach helps students feel comfortable when they make mistakes. I focus on improvement, encourage regular practice, and celebrate progress, including small achievements.

Besides piano, I can teach music theory, keyboard fundamentals, ear training, rhythm, chords, sight-reading, basic composition, and music appreciation. My goal is to make every lesson practical, motivating, and enjoyable.
