I am a veteran teacher, I have taught at the Ivy League schools as well as Community Colleges. I love working with writers of all ages and experiences. I think my watch words are "Don't be boring", if you love a subject that is what you should write about.

I am a very flexible and compassionate teacher. I am not judgemental and have great enthusiasm for people who wish to learn to write well. I know the world of publishing, both in books and magazines. I have been on staff at The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Gourmet, Saveur, and The Paris Review. I Have a Masters degree from Yale University, I have a permanent collection of my work at The Smithsonian Institution, I have won six James Beard Awards for my food writing and now write for Vanity Fair.
