About James
I am a technical/scientific professional who has worked mainly in Agricultural research, Pharmaceuticals and ITT fields.
Even though I am not a qualified teacher, I have studied Educational psychology in a B.A. course at Macquarie Uni and ever since I enjoy teaching, coaching and training.
Over the recent years I have been heavily involved in training corporate prefessionals in the use of telematics and telemetry applications. The courses were delivered mainly in French and sometimes in English. I have trained some 400 participants between 2011 and 2016.
During the same period I have coached struggling students from underprivileged neighbourhoods in all areas of their curriculum. Many have managed to succeed in final exams against all odds.
My love of the French language has pushed me to acquire an excellent command of the language and I draw immense satisfaction teaching this subject. However I am as confident teaching English academic writing in particular, high school mathematics and science.

I am a proponent of the methods of the Russian cognitive psychologist Vygotsky and his principles of MKO (More Knowledgeable Other), Scaffolding and the concept of the ZPD (Zone of Proximal Development). His learning theories which I discovered when studying at Uni have inspired my teaching methods until today.
I tend to privilege group lessons over one to one teaching. I firmly believe that the involvement of peers (people within the "proximal" range of development of fellow students) can play a crucial part in the imparting of knowledge. Group discussions and interventions from more knowledgeable peers assist greatly in the sinking in of otherwise complex notions.
