About Karley
I am currently a student at Liberty University where I am majoring in Elementary Education and double minoring in American Sign Language and Intercultural Engagement. I have not only a passion for teaching but a passion for ASL and the deaf community. I am excited to combine those passions and help you learn a new language! I have been learning ASL for 6 years and my teachers include a CODA (child of deaf adult) and someone who is deaf. During this time I have also immersed myself in the deaf community in my area attending community events and gaining conversational and slang knowledge. After my 4th year learning ASL I gained my seal of biliteracy recognizing my linguistic ability and signifying my readiness for the workforce in the context of this language.

Hello, I have been an ASL student for 6 years so I have experienced many different ways to learn ASL. I take all levels of ASL knowledge and even if you are a beginner I will sign to you most of the lesson to get you used to seeing the language. My lessons will typically include a combination of learning individual vocabulary words, watching videos to practice comprehension, conversational signing, and small assignments or videos to practice and apply what you're learning. I will also include things about deaf culture, history, and rights to gain a good foundation of how this beautiful language came to be and how the deaf community fought for it.
