About Keira
I am a recent graduate of the University of Leeds, where I achieved a 2:1 in Biochemistry. Now based in London- undertaking a Master's of Public Health at Imperial College- I am able to offer lessons in the Sciences for all ages up to university level. My A-levels were in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and English Literature and therefore I can also offer lessons in these subjects up to and including GCSE level. I have previous experience in casual paid tutoring of local students in Bristol, tutoring in GCSE Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, English Literature, History and Classical Civilisation.

I approach each topic by printing out a specification of the subject and going through it with a fine tooth comb so we can figure out which aspects you are the most and least confident on and go from there. I find teaching something to somebody is an effective way of learning, so once we have gone through the topic I would get the student to talk me through it and do a mini presentation in order to cement the knowledge. If applicable, I will also teach revision methods and tools, such as helping them create mind maps for topics- which throughout my GCSE, A-level and University exams, I found to be the easiest way to learn and recall large amounts of information. Though, I personally think the most important thing is reassurance and instilling self-confidence in the tutee. I focus on making sure they know that everything is a working progress and to not panic when they don't understand something the first, or even tenth time! It is only with this self-assurance that students can learn properly and take pride in their work.
