About Imogen
I am a Biochemistry graduate from the University of Birmingham with a strong academic background in Biology and Chemistry. I am passionate about helping students build confidence in science by making complex topics clear, structured, and approachable.
My teaching style is calm, patient, and highly adaptable. I focus on identifying gaps in understanding and strengthening core concepts before moving on to exam practice and technique. I place particular emphasis on helping students understand how to apply their knowledge effectively in exam conditions to achieve the best possible grades.
I am committed to creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing at their own pace. My tutoring approach focuses on breaking down complex scientific concepts into clear, structured steps that are easy to understand and apply in exams. I use active recall, guided questioning, and exam-style practice questions to build both confidence and long-term understanding, while adapting my teaching style to suit each student’s individual learning needs.
Lessons typically last 60 minutes and are structured to include a recap of prior learning, focused teaching of new content, and application through exam questions and discussion. I also place emphasis on exam technique, helping students understand how to interpret questions and structure high scoring answers.
I am a recent Biochemistry graduate with a 2:1 from the University of Birmingham, with strong experience in scientific research, data analysis, and technical scientific writing. I have also worked in healthcare data management, which has strengthened my attention to detail, organisation, and ability to communicate complex information clearly.
My lessons are suitable for GCSE and A-Level Biology and Chemistry students who are looking to improve their understanding, boost exam confidence, and achieve higher grades in a supportive and structured learning environment.
