A bioengineer, passionate about the science of living organisms. My goal as a tutor is to inspire curiosity, simplify complex concepts, and support students in reaching their academic goals

Between March 2021 and August 2023, I worked closely with Dr. Muhammad as a part of the American Geophysical Union’s Thriving Earth Exchange program that focused on capturing particulate matter through greenery. She consistently demonstrated a passion for and expertise for biology in theory and practice by drawing on previous educational and community-based experiences.

Dr. Muhammad’s most impressive qualities include her strong communication skills and attention to detail. During monthly planning sessions, she provided thorough insights into the project. Whenever the work shifted in scope, Samira quickly adapted (and with admirable patience) the research plan and methodological approach to the needs and interests of the partner community. Her science communication abilities are vast - she prepared presentations, tutorials, and surveys while also supporting interests in data visualization suited to public and academic audiences. She always completed her tasks in a timely manner. Deliverables consistently went above and beyond the asks of the community lead because she knew how to ask questions that were attentive to scope and feasibility.

Dr. Muhammad also clearly and effectively engaged scientists, partner NGOs, volunteers, and government entities from diverse disciplines and educational backgrounds in discussion. I learned so much about particulate matter and mitigation of health disparities through our partnership!

I have collaborated with Samira on several grant proposals and science projects and am always pleasantly surprised to see Samira technical presentations. She has the ability to take complex science and present it in clear easy to understand concepts. This is especially helpful when presenting new theories during community outreach events and funding committee presentations. When she is part of a collaboration team, Samira always has something positive to add during weekly group calls. She is always helping team members think through their assignments or adding interesting perspectives for others to look into.
